Bio
Dan Reid (formerly Jackson) enters his first season joining the ELAC men's basketball staff. He has over a decade of coaching experience and is known as a seasoned community leader who is committed to student-athlete success and achieving team goals.
Previously, Reid served as assistant coach at Antelope Valley College (CA) from 2018-2025. During his time, he coached sixteen conference selections and successfully helped numerous players secure scholarships to four-year universities. With the Mauraders, Reid held responsibilities around team logistics and operations, schedule coordination, analytics and scouting, and student-athlete development. Also, Reid was a part-time adjunct who taught multiple classes in the Kinesiology department.
Along with coaching, Reid served as Athletic Director for The Palmdale Aerospace Academy from 2021-2025. Reid excelled in synthesizing feedback to enhance athletic programs and regulations while fostering a growth environment for staff and student-athlete development. He became adept at scheduling athletic events, managing finances, and communicating across multiple departments, all while implementing strategies to improve accountability, belief, communication, and discipline among coaches and students. Additionally, Reid has a proven ability to increase community and alumni partnerships while effectively supervising administration tasks such as budgeting, personnel review, and goal setting.
Before his time on the West Coast, Reid served as assistant coach for the 2017-2018 season at Tusculum University (TN). In Reid’s lone season, he coached De’Shaunte Smith to the All-Freshman SAC Team and Donovan Donaldson, who has had an illustrious international pro career. Tusculum men’s basketball set multiple school records in blocked shots and 3-pt field goals made in a single season. Reid’s responsibilities included scouting, recruiting, academic monitoring and player development.
Reid began his coaching career in the fall of 2013 at Knox College (IL). His responsibilities at Knox included recruiting, player development, assisting in all daily operations, and serving as head coach for the junior varsity basketball team. Reid was an assistant tennis coach during the 2014-2015 season. Reid also taught a Health and Fitness course during his entire time at Knox.
A four year starter and three year captain at Warren Wilson College, Reid graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics & Business (2013). A guard for the Owls, Reid averaged double-figure points throughout his career. In his senior season, he helped guide the Owls toward becoming the USCAA National Champions.
He received his Master of Arts in Organizational Training & Performance Management from Tusculum University (2018). Later, he received his Master of Science in Coaching & Exercise Science (2023). A native of Chicago, IL, Reid was born on August 15th 1991 and graduated from Lindblom Math & Science Academy. Currently, Reid is married and lives in Los Angeles, CA.
