Lemus, Agahzade Earn Medals, All-American Nods at State

It was a long day as East Los Angeles College hosted the 3C2A Women's Wrestling State Championships. Seven Husky wrestlers took to the mats today to try to take home medals in their home gym. Four achieved top placement in their respective brackets, with freshman Haely Lemus - ELAC's best wrestler on the year with a 16-7 individual record - placing second in the 124-lb bracket. Fellow frosh Behnaz Agahzade (6-2 on the year) took home third in the 235-lb bracket.
Sophomore Mollie Jimenez (7-10 record) took to the podium as she finished seventh in the 117-lb weight class, with Bella Arredondo (9-9 record, 145-lb bracket) also placing seventh.
As for overall team performance, ELAC placed tenth (41 pts). Cerritos College earned a three-peat as team State Champions (222 pts) while Mt. SAC repeated (again) as runners-up (211.5).
