COMPTON, Calif. — East Los Angeles College men's soccer got its first conference win of the season with a 2–0 road victory over Compton College on this afternoon, powered by goals from sophomore forward Andrew Barojas and freshman midfielder Lucas Souza.
Barojas opened the scoring in the 20th minute, finishing a crisp assist from Xavier Villa to give the Huskies an early edge. ELAC controlled possession throughout much of the first half, outshooting Compton 10–8 before halftime.
In the second half, Souza added insurance in the 61st minute, blasting home an unassisted strike to double the lead. The Huskies' defense with goalkeeper Benjamin Puentes did the rest — Puentes recorded five saves to post his second clean sheet of the season.
Souza and Barojas led ELAC's 20-shot effort, combining for five shots on goal. Villa, who notched his first assist of the year, anchored a creative midfield that consistently pressured Compton's back line.
The win improves East Los Angeles to 1-6 in conference play (5-8-5 overall), while Compton (0-6-1, 3-11-1) falls short despite a six-save performance from keeper Alessandro Martinez.
